Cannot Load Dbml Error Encountered

The question of whether to use Dynamic SQL generated by an ORM or instead use Stored Procedures when building a data layer is a topic that generates endless (very passionate) debate I also haven't seen any way to specify a default select command, in the same way you can specify default update/insert/delete statements. The most important part of the system will be how we actually access the DataContext, retrieve the data and make sure that it can be effectively unit tested. Doesn't that leave huge amounts of resources open if I've made many calls to my database? Mocking the DataContext The thing which first struck me about this was why couldn't we just mock the DataContext itself instead of messing around with Repositories and Controllers. VS 2005 has the support for creating managed SPROCS too.

For example, the below code databinds the result of our SPROC to a control: Which then displays the product history of our customer on a page like so: Mapping the public static List GetProductsForCategory(Category c){    HowToUnitTestDataContext db = CreateDataContext();    var query = from p in db.Products                       join pc in db.ProductCategories on p.id equals pc.ProductID                       where pc.CategoryID == c.id                       select p;     My main problem with the book is that there are a number of typos and small things which should easily have been picked up by the reviewer/author.  For example it refers It will be the IQ MASTER archive for database '%3' (%1) Please mount Backup Server archive media for database '%2' on '%3' (%1) Please mount IQ MASTER archive media for database

I'd recommend looking at my part 4 segment on updating. Here it is: WHOOPS! My current workaround is to use a view instead of a table or stored procedure. Consider making a small donation to show your support. Sometimes it seems saving the dbml file isn't rebuilding/regenerating what it should.

Then, theSQLMetal-generated classes worked fine.

DataClasses1DataContext dc = new DataClasses1DataContext(); var q = from o in dc.Orders         where dc.WeekOfYear(o.OrderDate) == 23         select o; foreach (var item in q) {     Console.WriteLine(item.OrderID); } Now, instead I've actually been thinking about doing something like this. Easy now though: Alt+Select the box you want to edit (little note - it's more start selecting and then hold down Alt): I was so happy when I did this and or must i install the .net framework3.5?

I'm diving into Linq docs and learning stuff as we go along and have a few questions: a) As a DataContext (DC)become a container for my tables, will there be any Handling SPROC Output Parameters LINQ to SQL maps "out" parameters in SPROCsas reference parameters (ref keyword), and for value types declares the parameter as nullable. So I'm thinking, "Of course you cannot load the file or assembly because it isn't in this web application but then I didn't ask you to." So where is it coming How can we change the connection string. I found I needed it today and it is actually really useful! It makes for great demos where all the SQL is hidden away and all that.

I haven't seen a specific benchmark on this yet. Today I got back to a LINQ to SQL app that’s been sitting idle for some time. Here, you can select to Customize the action, and then select the stored procedure to use on the data context.  If should then auto configure the parameters for the sproc, but Because you can't and it doesn't look like there is a fix in sight.

Below, we have a test which mocks out querying a simple list.  Here, we have a list of customers and a dummydata collection. You can do configure update and delete in a similar fashion. By default the LINQ to SQL designer stores and retrieves the connection-string from the application's web.config file.
